Summary: VES is looking for a to join our team in our Kingwood location Actively pursues and promotes sales opportunities by traveling through assigned sales territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders and provide technical assistance.  Achieves revenue, margin, and market share goals for assigned sales territory. Follows company safety policies and procedures.     

Locations: Congo, Cameroon, Gabon, Ivory Coast, flexible based on candidate location    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Meets with office-based customers to identify requirements. Provides technical advice related to product selection and application. Demonstrates products and highlights added value as appropriate. Solicits orders.
  • Performs technical analysis for customer proposals. Prepares technical and commercial proposals including product selection, pricing, and delivery to assigned customers. Uses pricing guidelines, discounts, national contracts, agreements, or special pricing along with an understanding of cost and profit to make decisions.
  • Builds relationships and services accounts pre and post-sale. Answers customer inquiries regarding service, deliveries, and invoicing. Resolves customer issues promptly. May monitor receivables and follow up on past due accounts to ensure DSOs (Days Sales Outstanding) align with plan goals.
  • Prepares documentation and system transactions related to sales such as quotes, sales orders, consigned orders, shipments, billing, and inventory availability.
  • Monitors and documents product performance, including both company and competitor products. Authors and presents technical proposals and performance recaps with emphasis on ROI, geological interfaces, and perceived product benefits.
  • Communicates product modifications needed to achieve sales goals and identifies new product requirements to meet market demands.
  • Works closely with Field Sales to ensure the customer receives best-in-class service at the field level.
  • Participates in industry-related organizations and trade shows to enhance customer interaction.
  • Prepares monthly sales, inventory, and expense reports, including reporting for consigned stockholders.
  • Keeps abreast of competitor product developments, market share, and sales personnel. Supports sales colleagues.

Minimum Requirements

Competencies (Skills & Abilities)

Ability to:

  • Demonstrate a track record of sales achievement, negotiation, and problem resolution skills
  • Calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Quickly learn order entry applications and sales processes, accurately enter data into ERP systems, and work with databases
  • Create reports and correspondence with proper grammar
  • Comprehend and communicate clearly, accurately, and concisely in the predominant business language of the region (additional languages are a plus)
  • Proficiency With:

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Education & Knowledge

  • Degree in Engineering from an accredited university
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, in line with company requirements
  • Knowledge of the drilling industry, trends, and general business and financial concepts
  • Understanding of general office and sales practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of drilling equipment used in the assigned territory
  • Knowledge of customer operations in the assigned territory (preferred)
  • Understanding of business concepts such as market complexity, gross margin, pricing, supply and demand, and their impact on profitability

Work Experience

  • Typically requires at least five years of sales experience in the energy services industry
  • Experience with an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system is preferred
