Summary: VES is looking for an Security Officer to join our team in our Matamoros,Tamaulipas location. Performs the activities related to the company's Property Security and these are supervised and evaluated by the Patrimonial Security Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides access to employees, carriers, suppliers, on-site suppliers, contractors, contractors, suppliers and visitors authorized and identified, verifying that employees have their company identification badge.
  • For suppliers, contractors, on-site contractors and visitors, official photo identification is required. For foreign personnel, a valid FMM immigration permit must be requested and it is ensured that they are on the list of authorized and approved persons before allowing access.
  • For external contractors, union and social security permits are required. 
  • Contacts the visitor's host and orients him/her in case of any doubts during the time of stay at the plant.
  • Supervises that personnel make use of time clocks to record the arrival and departure of employees.
  • Makes rounds throughout the plant area based on the work instruction and the schedule for security controls, during the security tours in the interior and exterior perimeter of the plant, reinforces vulnerable areas and reports any anomaly.
    During the tour, he/she will check that the lighting is fully functional and that the perimeter fence is in perfect condition.
  • Attend to complaints from neighbors, documenting the information in the HR-F-SSA-031Neighbor Communication Log.
  • Support the guard in the weekly key audit.
  • Verify the exit orders for donations, exit of machinery/equipment or raw material (forging), special handling waste, hazardous waste, Infra, Praxair.
  • The Officer actively participates with the different support/service departments in inspection or verification activities.  
  • When the operation allows the Safety Officer may transfer personnel to medical care or courier units.
  • Review of cutting and welding permits, and work at heights. During tours he/she will review such permits.
  • Download the daily tour report with Digitool.
  • Supervise the follow-up of activities such as checking fire extinguishers, registration of exit or entry orders of material and registration of visitors, suppliers and contractors.
  • Ensure that the fire protection system is in working order.
  • Update the register of reliable personnel and provide the guard with the updated document. Make sure to send this information to the payroll area at the end of the week. 
  • Review security cameras if required for incident investigation.
  • Perform daily walk-throughs to validate that personnel are wearing their badges, as well as their security equipment.
  • Make sure that the CCTV is working in optimal conditions.
  • Open/close access, service and emergency gates of the facilities, if required and for plant operations.
  • Check out export transportation, verifying that what is documented is what is physically loaded.
  • Perform parking lot walk-through to verify availability and compliance with parking regulations.
  • Conduct drawer audits according to the calendar.
  • Attend monthly Property Security meetings in order to report the results of the activities that were carried out in previous meetings, get updated on new developments and review the new work plan and assignments.
  • Comply with procedures, instructions and policies in relation to the safety and security of the facilities.
  • Participate in company improvement projects related to Property Security.
  • Comply with VIM policies, employee policies and EHS.
  • Report any accidents, incidents or near misses to the Property Safety Manager or a member of the EHS committee immediately and thereafter to the Human Resources department. 
  • Always use the correct PPE and required equipment as per VIM policies.
  • Availability to work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays. 
     

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school or similar.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook).
  • Knowledge and experience in CTPAT/OAS.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience and/or training or combination of education and experience.
  • Fire systems experience.
